Power is Influence!!

When David was a young boy the Devil was manifesting himself in the form of the Philistine Army and a beast called Goliath. For  40 days this army with the demon possessed beast as its commander and chief would come out and mock the army of Israel.

King Saul was the Nations leader at this time, he had the responsibility and the the positional authority to deal with this Demon Possessed tyrant but he had some problems, he lacked confidence because the Spirit of the Lord had left him due to prior disobedience to the assignment on his life.

Saul now had no power to solve this problem and the sad thing was he knew it.

David a young boy who was keeping his fathers sheep, had the anointing to deal with the situation but he didn’t have the position and authorisation to apply the anointing to the situation.

David did NOT take on Goliath as a shepherd boy OR as a King as he had no authority in either area to take out a giant who was in a government sphere of authority. He could take on the lion and the bear because those were enemies in his sphere. This is where we have missed it, we think because he killed the lion and the bear he had the authority to tackle Goliath. David told Saul he had killed both, not because it meant he could now kill Goliath BUT because he was telling Saul that in his sphere of influence he was more than capable of taking on any enemy.

David had been anointed king but was not in the position of king yet so he needed position from Saul to be inducted into the army as a soldier.

Think about it, David only had a sling shot, he could have killed Goliath, then and there, when he was handing out lunch! David understood to penetrate the spheres of society’s influence then you have to be appointed to that sphere.

So David went to Saul, and Saul authorised him to enter the Government sphere. Why could David approach the king? He was a young boy, too young to join the army? He had already entered this sphere earlier as a musician/ therapist!

This is why we must understand that PROXIMITY IS POWER. Power allows you to access and then gives you the POWER TO INFLUENCE. The moment David was invited into the Kings chambers he was invited to wear the kings armour because now he was no longer just an outsider being critical of the regime, he was now an insider called on to solve a problem.

Joseph understood this also because as a prisoner he had no input to Pharaoh. As soon as Pharaoh called him after he had a dream, Joseph shaved and dressed before he came to the palace. Why? Because to be in Pharaohs place he had to look like Pharaoh’s face. He was now being invited into the sphere of government to solve a problem so you dress the part, and understand the authority and power you have when you are in the proximity. You have power to influence!
