Forgiveness and humility are possibly the most powerful weapons you have in your spiritual armoury!
Sadly most of us get so confused about the assignment we have on our lives, trying to take the shape of the mould that someone else has for our lives and missing out on the Divine call that was purposed for us before we were even in our mothers womb.
There is however one being that is crystal clear about our assignment and that is the enemy! He knows full well the gift you carry and will do his best to create a misunderstanding or offence to break up relationships with those who need your gift. The enemy knows that while you stay forgiving and humble it continues to allow the relationship that needs what you carry, to be restored and eventually the gift in you to be received. This is why he will do everything in his power to cause an offence and for you feel rejected.
I know in my own life the power of an offence! It can cause physical illness, destroy relationships and stifle the assignment that I am called to fulfil. Does this mean I don’t get tempted to be offended? That would be crazy to say, ‘NO’ too! If I didn’t get tempted to be offended, if I never have to fight feelings of rejection, then I would have to wonder if I have a revelation of the gift I carry!
Jesus Himself understood offences and rejection! So if I say, ‘I never get offended or fight rejection,’ then this would have me questioning my relationship with the Lord! Jesus said in Matthew 18 v 7, ‘offences will come!’ So if they are not coming, I’m not showing up in the right place!
In Matthew 10 v 40, Jesus said, ‘ “He who receives you, receives Me,” He could have said it this way , “He who rejects you, rejects Me, and the assignment and gift that I intended to bring into their life though you.”
If like me you have been rejected or maybe you have rejected someone sent to you, then you are also aware that reconciliation and forgiveness doesn’t always happen. You may be willing to connect… but the others may not.
Not long ago I was in a place where there were some women from my past (not famous LOL) and I went to them and said, ‘I just want to honour you for all the battles you won and for being such an awesome role model for me.’ One looked me in the eye and then walked away, not responding and another said, ‘I don’t even know you’, turned and walked away. I can tell you it was a battle to not feel rejected and offended. I had to take a deep breath and make a conscious decision I will not let this affect me! It was done in front of others so I not only felt rejected, but also belittled.
I realised at that moment that this rejection of myself and my gift could have a huge consequence. It wasn’t about me, and how awesome my assignment and gift was, (a joke, tongue in cheek) it was about the scripture! He who receives Me! As I stood there I realised that it wasn’t me they were rejecting, because of competition and jealousy, but it was JESUS they rejected, because I was His Body!
I mulled over Matthew 10 for a number of days, and how Jesus also said, ‘ He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will enjoy a prophet’s reward. ‘ It occurred to me that he who rejects that prophetic gift will miss an important appointment with God. Part of the prophet’s reward is the Divine appointment it creates and how destiny is released into your life!
Remember this works both ways. If I reject someone because of hurt, jealousy, or competition, listening to gossip and slander, then I reject the person God is sending to me, and in reality Im rejecting Christ and the gift they were sent to give and be in my life.
Entire movements, churches and probably nations have suffered loss because Christ was not discerned by His body.
Smith Wigglesworth, an English plumber turned preacher with extraordinary miracles. He said that it’s a dangerous thing to mock, criticise or reject a minister or manifestation of the anointing. Once asked why he had faith to raise the dead but needed glasses to read he said that he remembered the night when he was younger and he mocked a healing minister who wore glasses. He said that ever since then he had a challenge in that area of healing. His conclusion?
When you judge wrongly, the anointing in that area won’t work for you.
It’s a consolation to know that Jesus experienced both acceptance and rejection of His gift and His assignment, and told us that if it happened to Him, it will happen to you and I.
The biggest challenge is not to let man’s ignorance or lack of discerning diminish your confidence.
You carry a gift from Christ that expresses Christ Himself. You have been chosen to be His personal representative.
If they receive you, they receive Him. If they reject you, they reject Him. In the end, it’s not about you.
