What is your personal destiny is such a loaded statement! Everyone wants to believe that they have a personal destiny that was selected for them before they were born, and if they don’t find then the world will fall apart.
Atheists believe that there’s no God, so consequently they have to believe they have no predestined purpose, and no point to life, this is therefore a difficult philosophy to come to terms with and live out in day to day life! Just the idea of ‘destiny’ gives us a reason to live, and motivation to succeed.
As Christians we believe that God has a plan and purpose for each of our lives, and Jesus Christ and His sacrifice helps us to therefore navigate what we are on the earth for.
Non Christians are not much different. Hindu’s, Buddhist’s, New Ager’s, etc, all are seeking their elusive plan for life. Lets face it almost every human on this planet is on a quest to find their purpose and destiny. Every human being wants the answer to ‘what am I on this earth for’?
The biggest challenge for us though is the question,’ do we all have a personal destiny and can we find it’? Could it be that destiny is not something thats locked in and concrete and is unchanging, and we and we alone were born to achieve ‘it’. Destiny isn’t something that you can put on your to do list, and try and finish each day. Destiny is really, a moving target, so that means a divorce, a sudden death, failure of a business etc, will not derail your destiny. The man with diabetes who loses his legs, the woman that loses her sight, the teenager who falls pregnant, the man who goes bankrupt etc, have not ‘lost’ their destiny, or had their destiny damaged or weakened!
Your purpose and or destiny is bigger than circumstances, limitations or failures, which means nothing can change the fact you have a unique reason for being on earth, and no matter what happens, as it is continually moving you will always have time to chase it and discover it!.
Destiny is not an event or a get rich quick idea or something that when you find it you park at it. Destiny isn’t found or revealed at a conference, seminar or workshop. Its a process of discovering!
Yes, we have a destiny and purpose, but it comes through knowledge, work, action and movement. Destiny must be pursued, it longs to be discovered because destiny knows that within the journey along the way we observe, experience and value what purpose really means.
